Dear Mr. Williams,
It's a pleasure to perhaps help you again. I was looking at your Henry
PHILLIPS and family in the 1851 census and there may a couple of extra
clues to work from on the family origins:
" 1851 Census of Breconshire "
BRECON Enumeration District HO107:2489
Parish of Llanddeti
PHILLIPS Henry, h, m, 30, farmer 20 acres , BRE Brecon, Waingafar,
/f600/p4
PHILLIPS Gwenllian, w, m, 36, , BRE Cathedine , Waingafar, /f600/p4
PHILLIPS Ann, d, , 9, , BRE Cathedine, Waingafar, /f600/p4
PHILLIPS Margaret, d, , 7, , BRE Cathedine, Waingafar, /f600/p4
PHILLIPS Gwen, d, , 5, , BRE Cathedine, Waingafar, /f600/p4
PHILLIPS David, s, , 2, , BRE Cathedine, Waingafar, /f600/p4
PHILLIPS Jane, d, , 4m, , BRE Llanddeti, Waingafar, /f600/p4
PRITCHARD Mary, ld, u, 38, pauper, BRE Llanfeugan, Waingafar, /f600/p4
PHILLIPS Jane, ni, u, 24, housekeeper, BRE Talgarth, Waingafar, /f600/p4
Mary PRITCHARD looks like a cousin or sister of your Gwenllian, and as
they are only two years off in age you might want to check the Llanfeugan
as well as Cathedine church registers for the father David PRITCHARD.
Also, Jane PHILLIPS would probably be the daughter of Henry PHILLIPS'
(Jr.) brother. I would check both Talgarth as well as Brecon registers
for Henry, Sr.
This is certainly a good possibility for Gwenllian's family in
Llanfeugan:
PRITCHARD David, h, m, 62, farmer 80 acres , BRE Llanfeugan, Corn Wall,
/f588/p7
PRITCHARD Kezia, w, m, 57, , BRE Llanhamlach, Corn Wall, /f588/p7
PRITCHARD Elizabeth, d, u, 27, , BRE Llanfeugan, Corn Wall, /f588/p7
PRITCHARD Richard, s, u, 25, , BRE Llanfeugan, Corn Wall, /f588/p7
PRITCHARD Anne, d, u, 21, , BRE Llanfeugan, Corn Wall, /f588/p7
PRITCHARD James, s, u, 17, , BRE Llanfeugan, Corn Wall, /f588/p7
EVANS Eleanor, gd, , 9, scholar, BRE St Mary, Corn Wall, /f588/p7
EVANS Emma, gd, , 6, scholar, BRE St Mary, Corn Wall, /f588/p7
EVANS Charles , gs, , 5, scholar, BRE St Johns, Corn Wall, /f588/p7
PRITCHARD Henry, gs, , 2, , BRE St Mary, Corn Wall, /f588/p7
PRITCHARD Mary, gd, , 3m, , BRE Llanfeugan, Corn Wall, /f588/p7
With all of those children in the house it might be easy to understand
why Mary PRITCHARD would want to live with her sister. Kezia would have
only been 19 when Mary was born, but not unheard of certainly.
If you tell me which church parish records you'd like to look at first,
I'll look up the films numbers on my CD of the LDS Film catalogue. i
hope this perhaps helps a little!
Best wishes,
