Hi everyone, from a new list member.
I am looking for John Phillips, Upholsterer in London, died 6th October
1817 in Galsbury, Radnor; when he held property in both Radnor [at least 2
cottages] and London. His will mentions:
His brother William [ and William's sons William and John]
His sister Susanna Williams [?wife of Benjamin Williams, surgeon of Brecon]
His wife Ann [died before 1817]
His daughter Ann Parker [PHILLIPS] BEAVAN
His son in law Hugh BEAVAN, goldsmith of Mary le Bone Street, London; died 1837
His grandchildren:
Hugh Phillips Beavan [ a minor in 1817, died 29 Nov. 1838]
John Phillips Beavan
Henry William Beavan
Thomas Drew Beavan
Ann Phillips Beavan
another granddaughter Elizabeth Beavan [unmarried] was living in Llowes Hay
in 1880.
[John's 1817 will was not 'proved' by the original executers, and new
letters of administration were issued to Elizabeth Beavan in 1880.]
Does anyone recognise this family? I would be grateful for any hints on
tracing the beneficiaries of the 1880 administration of John's will.
I have Phillips relatives in London, who described themselves as annuitants
in the 1881 census. I wonder if they were descended from William Phillips,
and thus benefited from the will of brother John.
