Hello Carol,
This is the closest match, but I think you're going to need to look for
the ISAAC family in Glamorgan for 1861. Brynnaman is directly on the
Brecon/ Glam border.
Here are a few ISAAC entries for Brecon, but none seem to correctly match
the information you have.
1861 Brecon Census
Crickhowell Enumeration District: RG9:4214
Sub-district of Llanfihangel Cwmdu
Pariish of Tretower
ISAAC John, h, m, 68, farmer, BRE Cwmdu, Penypentre, /f44/p10
ISAAC Sarah , w, m, 60, , BRE Llandefalle, Penypentre, /f44/p10
ISAAC Jane, d, u, 18, , BRE Cwmdu, Penypentre, /f44/p10
ISAAC Joanna, d, u, 16, , BRE Cwmdu, Penypentre, /f44/p10
MEREDITH Joana, ml, w, 85, union pauper, BRE Llandefalle, Penypentre,
/f44/p10
ISAAC John, gs, , 8, , BRE Crickhowell, Penypentre, /f44/p10
This (above) is the only ISAAC family that has a boy of the right age and
has part of the father's name. We see here the grandfather is the head
of household.
As far as a father David John ISAAC, this is the only close match in
Brecon, but does not seem to be the correct father:
