So what you're saying is, Neath and Aberayron are really part of
Brecon/Brecknock, but at the time of Magdalen's birth, it was in a
different
County?
================
Dear Joyce,
Neither Neath nor Aberaeron (Aberayron) have ever been in the county of
Breconshire (Brecknockshire).
For hundreds of year (until 1974), Neath was in the county of Glamorgan,
and Aberaeron was in the county of Cardiganshire.
The parishes of Defynnog, Brecon St Mary, and Llandeilo'r-fân were in
the county of Breconshire.
I do not understand the repeated references to Penlan in the 1851 census
entry that Jack quoted (see below). Also, from his statement "....is a
part of Carmarthenshire that came under Brecknock at this time", I think
he may be confusing Llandeilo'r-fân (in Breconshire) with Llandeilo Fawr
(in Carmarthenshire).
If you have found three records for a Magdalen Thomas, one apparently
born 1845 in Neath (Glamorgan), one born 1845 in Aberaeron
(Cardiganshire), and one born 1844/45 in Breconshire, unless the records
are inaccurate, you are looking at three quite different people.
Kind regards,
John

Hi..Joyce
What you will find that Brecknock is an area, which incorporates
Brecon,
and
outlying parts of other counties, which includes parts of Glamorgan
as
well
as well as Carmarthen.
This is the 1851 census of Brecknock, below is a part of
Carmarthenshire
that came under Brecknock at this time
Is this your family?,

THOMAS Magdalene, d, u, 6, , BRE St Mary, Penlan,

Also, would it be advisable to get a birth record of one of Thomas'
siblings
first, to see if the information is the same for the mother's
maiden
name?
