How will any changes actually work? Is there a formal vote or is it a
decision of the list admins?
=============
Dear Listers,
Andrew raises an important issue - "How will any changes actually work?"
Ultimately, the outcome will lie with list members who are currently
subscribed only to the BRE or MGY or RAD lists.
If they are persuaded by the arguments that it would be an advantage to
subscribe and contribute to the Powys List, then that is what they will do.
They will also decide whether it is worth their remaining on a single county
list which has such a low level of activity.
As we keep reiterating, the single county lists will not disappear. They
will not be closed down. But those who choose to ignore the benefits of
belonging to the longer-established, more active, and better-supported Powys
List will be depriving themselves of a terrific resource and pool of
expertise, whose interests cover all three of the Mid-Wales counties.
As list administrators, Julie Preston and I decided to promote the value of
the Powys List for the benefit of those on single county lists, who must
sometimes have wondered whether they were the only people there!
We've encouraged discussion so everyone will be aware of the pros and cons.
If there is a move to the Powys list and away from the single county lists,
it will make little difference to the administrative workload. We have
nothing to gain personally from such an outcome.
There will be no formal vote, nothing will be imposed, it will be up to you
all, as list members, to vote with your feet.
Kind regards,
John
