Hello to the List,
Well, it's done. I've signed up as the coordinator for Breconshire
because I really believe in the project. The Free Census project aims to
transcribe ALL the UK 19th century census returns to create an online
'free-to-view' database. This is being run exactly the same way as those
other wonderful projects FreeBMD and FreeREG.
Currently we have nearly 50 projects covering a county or part of a
county. All had been English with the only Welsh project covering
Anglesey but that is changing quickly!
I would very much like to hear from anyone who would be willing to
help with the transcription for Breconshire. You can do a little or a
LOT, whatever works best with your availability. One hour a week can
yield a good portion of work and you don't have to be a fast typist.
Accuracy is what counts!
As with the FreeBMD project, all the support you need will be provided
including microfiche and software. The program is DOS based and so easy
to use, very friendly!
If like me, you believe this information should be freely available
and available for free, please send me an e-mail for more information and
visit the website at

Best wishes,
Dawn Perry-Taft
