Hi James
I'd be very grateful if anyone could tell me ANYTHING
about 'The Seven Star's, a public house in the parish of
Llanfihangel Bryn Pabuan
You may find some answers in the QS records held by Powys County
Archives Office.
Petty Sessions records don't appear to survive that early for
Breconshire, according to 'Victuallers' Licences' [Gibson & Hunter,
FFHS 1997].

============
Alehouses and Victuallers
Under the Alehouse Act 1551/2 Alehouses and Victuallers had to be
licensed by the Justices of the Peace and there exists in Quarter
Sessions records lists of enrolled recognisances 'for the good order
and government of alehouses'. These give the names of the
licensees, usually with places of residence but not necessarily the
name of the inn or alehouse, but they would give some details about
the licence and also the name of the person or persons who stood
surety.
From another Act of 1753 there are registers or calendars of
alehousekeepers' recognisances, also in Quarter Sessions records,
and these usually show names of licensed victuallers, the public
house or inn and the name of the person standing surety.
Many breweries keep their own records and some of these such as
public house leases with lists of tenants are finding their way into
various county record offices. So whilst looking at the lists of
victuallers, it could be a good idea to make enquiries about any
deposits of records by breweries.

Subject: The Seven Stars, Llanfihangel Bryn Pabuan
Dear List,
I'd be very grateful if anyone could tell me ANYTHING about 'The
Seven
Star's, a public house in the parish of Llanfihangel Bryn
Pabuan that was allegedly held by my ancestor Roger DAVIES in the
first half of the nineteenth century. In 1838, he is described as an
Innkeeper on his son's marriage certificate (this marriage also took
place in Llanfihangel), Thank you.
Best wishes
James
