My wonderful cousin went to Llanfilo church this weekend on a VAUGHAN hunt
and found the following MIs. I am 99% certain I know who the last VAUGHANs
(Annie Elizabeth and W. Evan) and the REESes (R.W. is buried in the VAUGHAN
family grave in Vaynor Church) are but can't put any of the others together
yet....
In Memory of Thomas Vaughan of "Glyndwr" who died 24 March 1972 (1792?? -
HW) aged 66. In
memory also of first wife Elizabeth, daughter of John Williams of Tredomen,
Gent 6 January 1783 aged 51 & children, William, Thomas, John and Elizabeth
died in infancy.
Sacred to memory of William Gwynne Vaughan of Penymaes in this parish. Died
24 November 8144 (1844?? - HW) Aged 75. Tablet erected by nephew J W
Vaughan.
Floor tablets in front of altar, almost indecipherable...... ??? Rector ?
Vaughan died 59 years January 17???
Walter Vaughan died March 27 1800 aged 80. Also Blanch Relect of the above
mentioned died 4 July 1811 aged 77.
Walter, son of William Vaughan and Catherine died December 1808 aged 1
month. (This detail is at the top of the tombstone with plenty of room for,
we assume, his parents details but they were never added).
Elizabeth, wife of Walter died 6 June 1813 aged 55 years and Walter, died
20 May 1820 aged 81.
Mary, wife of Walter of Tredomen, died 31 March 1779 aged 41 (this tablet
is hung on the outside wall below the tablet bearing Elizabeth & Walter's
details - Mary could have been his first wife ????)
William Vaughan died 6 February 184? aged 42 and wife Esther died March 14
1874 aged 69.
Charles Vaughan died 1824.
Annie Elizabeth Vaughan, wife of W. Evan Vaughan, Ebbw Vale died 27 August
1918 and W. Evan Vaughan died 25 May 1926, 60 years.
Francis Catherine Rees, wife of R W Rees aged 79, mother of Margaret died 4
June 1975.
