Hello Listers,
This is my first posting - bear with me!
I am searching for my grandfather's birth name. His mother died either
during his birth or a sibling's. His father remarried and turned over the
raising of my grandfather to the parents of his new wife. In time, my
grandfather adopted the name of this family as his own - FINNEY. We have
absolutely no knowledge of his real surname except through rumors passed
down through the years.
My question is this: I am hoping that someone may have marriage lists of
the Brynmawr area around the turn of the century. I am looking for a bride
with the last name of FINNEY who married a man with the first name of Arthur
or Alfred, and the last name of Chandler or Chamberlain or Challener. They
would have been married probably between 1894 and 1900. I am hoping that by
finding this marriage record, I can obtain the name of my great-grandfather,
which would give me the name of my grandfather.
Is this too confusing? You can see that I have very little information to
go on. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated. I live in
America and unfortunately, cannot search the records myself.
Thanks so much! Lynda Raitala
