One of my relatives, John Shannon died in 1974 in BWLCH, Brecon, Wales.
Please can someone advise what BWLCH means and is there someone who can
assist with the actual date of death.
==================
Dear Andrew,
BWLCH is a topographical term meaning a gap or pass (e.g. between two hills
or mountains).
Davies (1967) lists 50 Welsh place-names beginning with the word "Bwlch".

There is a village called Bwlch in the parish of Llanfihangel Cwmdu,
Breconshire. This could well be the place where you relative died.
Bwlch is on the main A40 route between Abergavenny and Brecon, situated
about six miles south-east of the town of Brecon.
To obtain the exact date of death I suggest you write to the local register
office and purchase a copy of John Shannon's death certificate (current cost
is £7.00 plus postage).
The registers for Llanfihangel Cwmdu are probably held at the regsiter
office in Brecon:
