Hi Listers
Anyone researching the Powells of Castle Madoc this side of the pond?
Bryngwyn
I am. My gggg grandfather was born in Wales in 1754...but I've deadended
with him. I got this information from a relative years ago and with no source
info. This person supposedly has a picture of the Castle Madoc...after it was
rebuilt, but then again in ruins during World War II. Only records I have of
him are from his marriage in Baltimore in 1791 to Martha Jordan....and from then
forward to now. Here is the story I was told by another researcher and part
of the tree as I have it: I've highlighted my connections to this family.
Personal investigation - found graves of Martha, William and 2 sons, William
and David while visiting in Mt. Vernon, OH. They are in the Pike's church
Cemetery. I have pictures of the headstones.

William POWELL was born March 1754 in Wales, and died March 10, 1829 in Knox
County. OH. He married Martha JORDAN April 25, 1791 in First Baptist Ch.,

Army sent to the Colonies to fight in the American Revolution and was taken
prisoner at the Battle of King's Mountain. He was imprisoned and sent north to VA;
when offered parole and safe passage back to England near the end of the war,
he refused. This action resulted in his family disowning him.
Children of William POWELL and Martha JORDAN are:

iii. John POWELL
iv. Elizabeth Jane POWELL
