Well - further to my original question as to whether these places were in
Brecon or Glamorgan I have been told (by a very kind person on the Glamorgan
list) that they were actually in Monmouth in 1871 and covered by Bedwelty
Parish. It all gets very confusing because the birth certificates were
issued out of Crickhowell in Brecon and the Marriage (which took place in
Rhymney Parish Church and actually shows the residence as being Tredegar)
came from Bedwellty in Monmouth.
Anyway, now I am faced with getting the 1871 census and, from this info, I
conclude I must get the Bedwellty census. According to the LDS site this is
on 3 films and has districts from RG 10/5319 to RG 10/5327. Can anyone tell
me where should I go to figure out which district to look in and hence which
film to order? Rassau isn't even listed on the Gwent FHS site pertaining to
the 1871 census and Beaufort is shown as being part of Aberystruth and
Beaufort Wells isn't shown at all.
Confused? I am!!
Thanks
Hugh
