Hello Listers,
I know there has been a lot of discussion about Glytawe Parish and as I
was listening with half an ear, I have been looking for a homebase for my
CALLEN/ CALIN family that mysteriously appears in Llangadwg
(Llangattock), Brecon about 1813. There are three family groups and no
record for them earlier either in Parish Registers, Bt's or IGI, etc.
I am juxtaposing a lot of theories of their origins, and have come upon
one that MAY have some validity. Was there any presence of CALLEN/CALIN
families in the Glytawe Parish for the town of Callwen? I know the
English were particularly fond of using place names as surnames. What
about the Welsh in an instance like this? I guess part of why I am
partial to this theory is that if you continue to follow the valley up
from Swansea, through Glytawe, the end point ends up in
Llagynidr/Llangadwg (Llangattock).
I'm open for any suggestions. Punch holes in it or look at it under the
light of day, if you have any. It's overcast and rainy here in Central
CA.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts, suggestions, etc.
