Hi, Im new to the list and coming to you from Christchurch in the South Island in New
Zealand. I am interested in any information on the following family which is shown in the
1891 census as living at 4 Ship Street, Brecon.
I apologise in advance if I have not done this right.
PUGH, John 46, shoemaker
PUGH, Margaret, wife
PUGH, Margaret daughter, 24, shoewoman
PUGH, Henry aged 22, shoemaker
PUGH, Emily, daughter, Governess, 21
PUGH, John, 20, printer/compositor
PUGH, William, 18, printer
PUGH, Edith, 16, Pupil/teacher * my paternal grandmother
PUGH, Parry, aged 13
When I visited Brecon in 1970, I met Grace Pugh who was obviously a descendant and still
living at 4 Ship Street. She had been a teacher in Brecon and was obviously quite well
known as I ended up in hospital there, and many of the staff remarked on the fact that
their children had been taught by Grace. Unfortunately, I was not at that time interested
in family history.
Sorry to write so much. Can anyone help me with any information on the above.
Thanks
Sheryl
