I've traced my husband's Floyd line back to William Floyd (b. about 1720 in
Accomac, Virginia, USA) and his wife Abadiah Davis (b. 1726, Amherst, Virginia). This
William Floyd's lineage is thought to go back to Nathaniel Floyd (or Nathaniell Floid)
who came over to Jamestown, Virginia, from London on the ship Bona Nova around 1623. I
have seen a passenger list for the ship Bona Nova dated "before 1624-25" that
includes Nathaniel (Nathaniell Floid as shown on that list) coming over at age 24.
Some researchers believe that Nathaniel Floyd's father was John Floyd, knighted by
Queen Elizabeth, and that their lineage goes back to Breconshire, Wales. I have no
confirmation of this information citing Breconshire.
I would appreciate any information you might have that would verify this hypothesis that
Nathaniel and his brother Walter were sons of John Floyd (Floid) and were from Breconshire
- or of other Floyds (Floids) from that area in the late 1500s or early 1600s.
Thank you,
