Hi Jan
I have interest in both Prosser and Davies. The only one that might be
relevant to you is my Davies family from Llangadock, Carmarthenshire. John
Davies, who was born in Pencarreg, Carmarthenshire about 1833/4 married Elizabeth
Rees from Llangadock in 1858. Unfortunately I have been unable to confirm
details of John Davies's family, the only fact being that his father was David
and was a agricultural labourer.
The Prosser link is on my husband's side and very tenuous. The family name
is Thomas and Prosser was added to it to make a double-barelled name sometime
around the turn of the last century. The only fact I have here is that my
husband's grandfather Tom Prosser Thomas lived in Pembroke at the time of his
marriage. His father was William Prosser Thomas, an engineer. I have found
a Thomas famioly that seems likely but the Prosser link leads to a brickwall.

Hi Anna
I do not have a lot of information on these families as I realise that they
are all common names in this area.
This is what I have;
John James (don't know when he was born)of Llanelly (according to marriage
cert) married Anne Davies (don't know when she was born) in 1827 in
Llandilotalybont Glamorgan (Anne was of this parish) and one of their
children was Samuel Cooper James who was born about 1827 (can't seem to find
a birth for him). I thought with him having a name like Samuel (instead of
John or David etc) that it would make it easier to find, but no luck.
Samuel Cooper James born about 1827 married Martha Prosser (born 1834 in
Cendl)in 1855 at the Parish Church of Llangatock at the time of the marriage
they both said they lived in Beaufort also on the marriage certificate
Martha says her fathers name is David Prosser, I found her birth in Cendl
and her mothers maiden name was Mary Prosser (were David and Mary related
before they married????).
I know roughly when Anne James (Davies) died but when I look at the records
I don't know which Anne James is mine, at the time they lived in Beaufort.
With your Prosser Thomas surname, could it be like the Scottish tradition of
the first child having the mothers maiden name as a second name?
