Hello to list members,
I was wondering if someone might be able to help with my Davies family.
My gt grandmother Mary Ellen Davies was born in Oct 1861 to Joshua
Davies and Emma Davies. (Emma's maiden name was Davies)
I don't have a marriage for the parents, but assume it is around the
1861 date...as Mary Ellen was their first child.
The child was born in Brynmawr.
Mary Ellen came to Aust with her mother and young brother two years
after Joshua arrived in Melbourne and the family moved to Queensland.
Emma Davies appeared to have only one sibling, Hannah who was about 3
years older than her sister.
I have them on the 1851 in Brynmawr, and then in 1861 only Emma is with
her parents...
I was wondering if Hannah had married by then or had died.. She would
have been about 21.
I also have Joshua at the 1861 still a boarder in the town, so it
appears he and Emma weren't married, yet Mary Ellen arrived late in that
year.
If they did marry it would most likely be sometime after the date of the
1861 census.
I wonder if someone is able to help with that also.
Sorry to have 3 questions in the one mail.
Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help.
Glenda
Aust
Me again,
Forgotten to mention I'd welcome anyone with family connections to
Maesgwartha and Llanelly with the surnames DAVIES, LEWIS, GRIFFITHS AND
WILLIAMS, VAUGHAN. My family married into all these.
I would be particularly interested to hear from anyone with family
connections to Bethlehem Baptist Chapel in maesgwartha. It was dedicated in
1830 and was a chapelk of ease for llanwenarth BC. I have decided to write a
long overdue history of the chapel as several people in the past have
started but failed to complete due to their deaths! Hope I can break with
tradition!!!!!

Hi,
Here is the only Charles in Llanelly in the 1851 census
VAUGHAN Charles, h, m, 32, collier, BRE Llanelly, Rhonus Road, /f610/p32
VAUGHAN Margaret, w, m, 27, , BRE Llangamarch, Rhonus Road, /f610/p32
VAUGHAN Elias, s, , 1, , BRE Llanelly, Rhonus Road, /f610/p32
I'm sorry I don't have time to go through sorting out all the Vaughans in
Llanelly, there are an awful lot! If you have names and dates I'll be happy
to look for individuals for you.
I bought the 1851 CD from Powys FHS and it wasn't very expensive. I don't
think the 1841 is available indexed but you could check out their website.

Hello All,
Just had a great day. Met up with relatives who I did not know existed until
last year. Visited Bethlehem Maesgwartha the chapel that my
3xgreatgrandfather built in 1830 and attended an evening service. Even
managed to find that the houses he built in Maesgwartha village are still
standing. Also visited the remains of the Clydach Iron Works where he was
Forge Agent for 40 years.
All in all a remarkable day.
Seaching for
Davies
Lewis
mathias
Griffiths
James
All Llanelly/Maesgwartha 1800-1900
