Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
This is an amazing list - I normally have to wait 12 hours to get a reply but I had two replies in less than two hours!!
(Nothing on TV in the UK? - we are in the middle of the Karen McDonald/Tracey Barlow thing here)
This same cousin has a small cup with Ann WARD "Llangattock" written on it.
I did a search on the internet years ago on Llangattock but it didn't mean anything. The cousin and I both thought that maybe the cup wasn't a family heirloom but maybe her mother had picked it up at a jumble (jungle?) sale because of the name being family. (Hey come on , Ward is like Smith to research).
Now my husband tells me we drove through Crickhowell two years ago on the way to Chepstow/Monmouth where the Crimean soldier ended up in the Police Force!
Thanks again

Yesterday I received an email from a cousin who had found amongst her mothers possesions a letter from my g-g-grandfather at the Crimea to his mother at;
Mrs (Ann) WARD
at his Grace the Duke Beauforts
Nr Crickhowell
Brecknockshire (sic)
South Wales
dated 23 June 1855.
Does any one have access to the 1851 census (or 1861) as I would love to see if she was there then.
The letter goes on to mention - give my love to Robert and his wife and tell them that I am quite well. (Robert was born 1831 at Totteridge, Middlesex). Also - "remember me kindly to Mrs INGLIS and tell her I am very much obliged to her for her kind enquiries after my health, also to Mr and Mrs DIDDAMS?? and family that I am quite well not forgetting my little Goddaughter. You can tell Mrs BUCK that her son has gone away from here....."
so I assume these are neighbours.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been looking for this lady for almost 20 years!!
Thanks
Christine Clement

Subject: [WLS-BRE] Travers/Travis
> I am searching for William Travers/Travis born apx. 1720 and his son
William born 1745 who married a woman by the name of Mary Love also from
Wales. Both William Travers/Travis, Mary, John Love and daughter Mary where
on this ship coming to the U.S. Mary gave birth to a son Oct. 27, 1774 on a
ship sailing from Scotland. He was also named William. They lived in Bedford
County, Pa. and later in early 1800's moved onto Indiana county Pa.,
Illinois, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska. How can I find ship records on this
family? Are any other Travis researchers out there? Since 1999 I have been
searching with no luck. Hope to hear from someone with more knowledge on
these matters than myself. mary241(a)videotron.ca

Ystradgynlais, Breconshire. This feature was first shown on 'Images of

George & Amelia POWELL were living at Brecknock (now
Brecon??) on 4 Dec 1815 when their son, Henry Amelius
Powell ROBERTSON, was baptised while they were
visiting Monmouth. I suspect Amelia was a POWELL from
the Monmouth area and they were visiting her parents
at the time of baptism. George was a grocer in
Brecknock in 1815....according to the baptism record.
Is anyone able to search for later children that may
have been baptised in Brecknock, or any other records
that may exist for this family.
There were two older children baptised in Monmouth on
26 Jul 1813, when George & Amelia where still resident
there. One is named George and the other Georgiana.
Any info. would be very gratefully received.
