Hi Carol
Looked at the Brecon 1861 census your David John Issac from Brynamman is not
on that at all. There are a number of Issac families listed but most were
born in Cwmdu.
Looked on the map and see it is in
Carmarthen so looked on the 1861 Glamorgan census but there is no David
Issac born Brynamman there either.
Do you have any other info you can give me to find him. I have most Glam and
Brecon census to do another lookup.
Sorry
Diolch
Rose.
Maybe if we're lucky, our Martin's will connect! I'm still in the infancy
stage of learning about UK records, what different things mean and
locations, etc. As I've told others on the list, I'm in total amazement of
the resources that are available in the UK. Just amazed!
I'll certainly keep you posted if I run into a Margaret that may match.
Thank you all for being so helpful and welcoming,
Joyce

Hi Listers,
I'm hoping that someone could look at the 1861 census for Brynaman for
my Isaac family.
I don't have much info to help you I'm afraid this is all I have got:
David John Isaac born between 1853-1857 Brynaman, his father was also
David John Isaac Occ. Labourer, according to the marriage certificate I
have.
Hoping someone can help me with this brick wall.
Regards Carol.
Joyce
I saw your entry on the Brecon list. My Martin's are from that area and
Merthyr Tydfil a little further down the valley.
My grt grt grt grandmother was Margaret Martin born about 1811 in Brecon
Vaynor parish. She married William Watkins also from the area.

Greeting Listers,
I and researching the line of Thomas Reece Martin who emigrated to Missouri, USA in 1888 from what seems to be Brecknockshire, Wales and am complete new to researching in this area. He and his family are listed on the 1881 UK/Wales census. They are as follows:
Thomas Martin, Head, M. age 37, Brecknock,Wales, Occupation-Police Constable.
Magdalen Martin, Wife, age 36, Brecknock, Wales
Thomas Rees Martin, son, age 13, Brecknock, Wales, Scholar
Magdalen Martin, age 4, daug., Pontyrhydyfen, Glamorgan, Wales
John Philip Martin, age 2, son, Cefnllys, Radnorshire, Wales.
I'm hoping someone may point me in a direction as to what type of parish records, other census records, etc. may be of help in my search for information on this family, and where to look to find them.
Any suggestions or comments welcomed.

Hi Kate,
With many thanks for your reply to my request for information on the WILLIAMS
family.
Unfortunately I am really struggling with this link, My 3xgt grandmother was
Jane Williams and I know she was born in Oswestry, with a possible marriage
to Thomas Powell in Llanelly, Breconshire in 1834. I hoped that by finding her
parents on either the 1841 or 1851 census living in Breconshire that I could
be certain this was the correct marriage.
I understand that Williams was a very popular name and as you can see to make
matters worse she married a Powell!!
I think I could be looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack here!
With much appreciation for your time and help.
Regards,
Ann
Hi Steve,
Many thanks for your reply to my request for information on the Williams
family.
I am beginning to understand the depth of my problem trying to trace my
branch of the family, what makes matters worse was that Jane Williams (my 3xgt
grandmother) married Thomas Powell!! Another very common welsh name.I think I
could be looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack here.
With much appreciation for your time and help,
Regards,
Ann
Hi Ann!
Do you have any further information to narrow down the selection of John
WILLIAMS? Perhaps the details of any known children (some might still live
with them, or close by), or John's probable occupation? You are asking for
a name which at the time was the most common name in Wales (a few born every
week, though not all survived to adulthood). No John or Mary WILLIAMS old
enough in the 1851 Census gives Shropshire as a place of birth, but there
are a number of younger people scattered across the county that do.
Regards,
Kate.

Hi
I am new to the mailing list and would like to post my interest in the
Williams family.
I should be very grateful if SKS with access to the 1841 and 1851 census
could look up JOHN WILLIAMS. I expect his age to be around 55yrs in 1841. He was
married to Mary and I think they may have had links with the area around
Oswestry, Shropshire before moving to Breconshire.
Sorry to be so vague with my information, any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance for any information or assistance.
Regards,
Ann.
Just passing this on.

Hello Linda,
As part of the transcription project of FreeCen at Rootsweb.com, I am the
Breconshire Coordinator. The 1891 census has not been indexed, but is in
the process of being transcribed right now, but we still need help. We'd
be happy to have you as part of the transcription team and furnish you
with both the fiche and software to find your family and help the
project!
Your can find out more by going to the Wales FreeCen Project Page at:
http://genwebnut.net which is our status site as part of the larger
FreeCen Project. I would be more than happy to answer any other question
and assist you in getting set up.

Hi Hazel,
Looked up Brecon 1861 census, but sorry your Thomas Rees isn't on it. I know
Brecon pretty well, do you have the correct name of the village, never heard
of it before but that is not to say it doesn't exist. Have the Brecon census
for 1851, Brynmawr 1901 and 1841 Talgarth hundred and all the Glam census if
you want me to look else where for him.
cheers
Rose.
Dearest, dearest Rose,
This is the most exciting day I've had, in genealogy, in three years! I have been looking for proof that Josh was born in the US and this will do nicely, to say the least.
My hearfelt gratitude and best wishes to you -
Linda
Hello Sue,
I have a couple of Bevans on a Cricadarn Will of 1729.It just says,"I give
to William Bevan son of Mathew Bevan three pounds and to his sister three
pounds" but it shows there were Bevans there much earlier than 1841.

Hi Linda,
I don't have the 1891 census for Brynmawr but I have the 1901 and this is
the family in that year, hope it is of some use.
Thomas Gimlett husband married 42, coalminer born Monmouth Nantyglo living
in 2, Hatter St, Brynmawr
Jane wife married age 40, born Glam Hirwaun living at 2, Hatter St.
William son unmarried, postman born Brynmawr Brecon
Beatrice daughter unmarried age 13 " "
Joshua son unmarried age 11 born America (British subject) living 2 Hatter
St.
Edith Ann daughter age 7 born Brynmawr.
" "
Elizabeth daughter age 6 " "
There are a whole tribe of Gimblett's on the census, thought there wouldn't
be many with an unusual surname.
cheers
Rose.
Would someone please look for this family in the 1891 census for Brynmawr?
Thomas and Jane Gimblett with children William Henry, Beatrice, and Joshua
Thanks very much -
Linda
Can someone please search 1841 census for "Burnham" in Breconshire (if there
is one) for my GGGrandfather, PIERCE KENDALL? His parents were WILLIAM
KENDALL and CAROLINE REED. I know there may be many Burnhams, however.
