Hello Robert again
If you could send to the Registrar of Births Deaths and Marriages at Bristol
and get hold of Joseph's birth certificate - you have his age as being 35 on
1881 census so they should be able to find it and then this will give you the
mother's maiden name. Fee for a copy birth cert. used to be £6. 50.
Another way to pin point Joseph better would be perhaps have a look at the
St. Catherine's birth index to see which quarter he was born in. Do they
have microfiche copies in Wrexham library? or perhaps nearest Mormon family
history centre.

Hi
I am researching the family of my great, great grand parents and would appreciate any assistance in confirming their history and any documentation that may be around. To the best of my knowledge my g,g grandmother was Mary Ann ? John and born in Haverfordwest in either 1806 or 1809. Her father thought to be John John.
Mary Ann married Henry Withers in Bristol in 1836. However there is also a Mary Ann who married John Withers ca 1824 ? and the family were living in Brecknock and John was a miner.
Any help in clarifying Mary Ann of Haverfordwest appreciated
Regards

Hello Laurence,
From the 1851 Brecon index, courtesy of the work of the Powys FHS:
I cannot find a Sara(h) born Penlan, but I did find these families
thinking that perhaps Sarah belongs to one of them and grew up in Penlan,
thinking she was born there.
You might also try the Monmouth list and ask there, as she perhaps had
slipped over the border on census day.

Re the Gwynnes on the 1851 census for Breconshire.
Thank you to all of you have replied to my query. David and Ann plus
family at Dinas Talgarth are not my line and cannot as yet see them fitting
in. Lemuel and family at Hay are though. If ever there is a query on
Gwynnes stemming from Brynsifiog farm at Glasbury, Rads then I have plenty of
information to give. Looking at present for Samuel Gwynne b. 1792 Glasbury
and I was told was on 1841 census in Talgarth but obviously moved out of
area.
Thanks again
Pam
Can someone with access to the Brecon 1841, and/or 1851 census, please see if
you can find a Sarah Price, age about 7 and 17 respectively. On later census,
she says that she was born at Penlan, Brecon.
many thanks,
Laurence

Hello everyone,
I am a new subscriber with an interest in the family of Sir Edward Williams
of Gwernyfed or Gwernevett.
I was wondering if anyone had access to Sir Edward Williams family tree as I
am trying to piece together my family connections that I may have to this
family that I have from a Will. I believe that Sir Edward may have had at
least two sisters - Eleanor who married William James and Elizabeth who
married John Beavan. It may have been his son Sgt Edward Williams died in
1759 and was married to Elizabeth Capper in Westminster Abbey 1753.
However I am not sure that Sir Edward Williams is the right father of my Sgt
Edward Williams and brother of Eleanor and Elizabeth, although he was the
father of Edward Williams of Lincolns Inn. I would like to either prove or
disprove this theory if anyone can help at all I would be most appreciative.

Hello Pam,
Have you made a mistake with the dates?? Being born in 1892 he would not be
on the 1851 census.

Ian.

Hi everyone,
although I am a new boy to this list I thought I might be able to
add something to this subject since I have just signed up for a 30 day
trial of Spam Arrest.
Spam Arrrest has a special section for mailing lists separate from the
other regular e-mail addresses. Since I've had it set up I have still
received mailings from all three lists I am subscribed to.
It isn't a software package as such, just another server that filters your
mail before allowing your e-mail program to download the mails it lets
through. There is a section on their website where you can log in and view
the mails it hasn't let through, I checked out about 15 of them collected
in the week or so I have been using it, all spam!
Apart from one chain e-mail sent by a friend I haven't had ANY spam let
through so far, I am considering signing up for this service.
I have no connection with Spam Arrest btw.
Now since I am here I would also like to post my interest:
MORGAN from the BRECON area. I am researching James Morgan, gent from
Faversham Kent, who married Mary Giles c 1749. Origionally we believe his
family came from Penderin. I'd be delighted to hear from anyone who is
researching this family.
Best wishes, Brian

Hi All,
There are various software packages around at the moment that attempt to
stop unwanted email (spam) by only accepting emails from recognised users.
They send a message back to authors of emails, asking them to confirm that
they are genuine correspondents and not mass mailers.
Trouble is, they don't work with mailing lists. The verification email
comes to me, but even if I replied it wouldn't work - my email address is
not the Rootsweb address from which posts are sent.
I don't know if you can manually override this software, but be warned - if
you install one it may end up blocking your list traffic, and there's
nothing I can do about it...
Cheers,
Malcolm
