Polly, Thanks for the heads up. This is installment 1 of 4. I am
reposting this as it was too long for some of the lists.

Hello Listers,
I am really excited to have found two LDS films for Brecon and
surrounding parishes as well as Crickhowell and surrounding parishes.
I wanted to share them with you, but I first cleared their posting with
Mike Hall of the Powys Site. These films include not only Monumental
Inscriptions, but Census Surnames lists, etc. that a good many Family
History Societies did the hard work on, and you will find with each
isting who the credit belongs to for bringing this work to light.
ANOTHER benefit, it that I found something that doesn't often happen
on older LDS films, and that is that the items are grouped by locality -
somebody finally got it right!
I had the concern that perhaps some FHS might be unhappy with this
posting due to a possible loss of revenue for not selling the fiche
themselves, but then I realized that the FHS's had done a great
service by ALLOWING the LDS to film these records for everyone's benefit.
My suggestion would be that if you DO find something of value from these
two
films, PUT SOMETHING BACK. Make a donation to the FHS that did the work,
become an FHS member, to show that we value their hard work and
effort.
So here is the first installment. The descriptions are very long,
but
that is because these films contain a lot of info. I hope you find
them
of use to you.
Best regards in your endeavors,
Dawn Perry-Taft

I would very much appreciate a lookup on the 1861 census.
Two Howell Watkins(My ggrandfather) of the proper age appear on the 1851
census.
We were able to confirm which one was ours via his parents' names on his
death certificate.
Now a Howell Watkins has been found living at a farm called Llechach in
Merthyr Cynog,Bre. in 1861. (Reference RG9:4208:folio20;page2)
We are hoping that one of the Howells will be found living with his
parents on the 1861 census so that we can determine whether or not the Howell
at Llechach is ours.

Locating either family on the 1861 census will help us to find "our" Howell.(
It has been suggested that I request a lookup on the 1861 census *as
enumerated* for Breconshire.)
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Looking for info on Jonathan Evans family.
Jonathan born in Twyin (?), Cardigan, Wales 1821-1822.
Married Mariah Kelly, born in Brynmawr 1825-26.

1844-45). She later married N.J. Powell and the couple owned the Belle Vue
Hotel in Llanwytrd Wells, Powys. We believe she is buried
somewhere around there.

Children were

The family was living in Llanelly, Wales at the time of the 1881 census.
Any help would be appreciated!
