Thanks Gordon. So, it is possible to find people in Aberffraw in the 1939
Register. The people I am looking for are the Evans family who lived at the
'Eagles' public house on Church Street. Originally the 'Eagles' was
number
15 but later renumbered as 24. I don't know if it was renumbered again. Some
of the family were at one time living a few houses away, from the John Jones
you mention, at 70 Bangor Street.
Regards
David Railton

Has any list member used the 1939 Register in FindMyPast for tracing people
in Anglesey? I am particularly interested in finding someone I know lived in
Aberffraw at that time. Not only can I not find her I can't find any record
for Aberffraw.
Has anyone had any success with Aberffraw on the Register.

Hello again David
Living at The Eagles in 1939 appear to be a general labourer Richard HUGHES
(born 12 August 1895), wife Mary (b1897) and four others unidentifiable
because still living.
If you put the name John EVANS born 26 May 1889 into a 1939 search-box and
select 'Valley RD' you should be able to scroll through 14 pages of
ostensibly Aberffraw households, but whether this gives you the entire town
I know not, I'm afraid.
Good hunting
Gordon

Thanks again, Gordon.
I am not getting anywhere with this. I will leave it until the weekend when
I will be in Anglesey and will, hopefully, be meeting someone who supposedly
has some knowledge of Aberffraw history and knows of/knew my Evans family.
I hope that he will be able to fill in a few gaps.
My interest is that my 3 x great grandfather, Robert Evans (1771-1841) was
the first of this family to live at and be publican of The Eagles.
Regards
David
