Are you sure about the father's name e.g. from a marriage certificate? Only to say
that about 50% of names were patronymic in Lleyn at this time. In 1780 the proportion
would be even higher. So as you go back in time, the chance of hitting that changeover
point gets higher.
Not to depress you, but sometimes there were odd blips like a child being named for his
grandfather. So I have a Richard Morris son of Griffith Prichard son of Richard Morris!

I will make a long-anticipated visit to Anglesey next week. I hope to uncover information
about my gggfather and his parents:
Birth/baptism record for Richard Williams, b. approx 1813, Llanfechell (Llanfechan?)
and his parents:
Hugh Williams, bap. 1 Jan 1780 in Llangeinwen? or in Bangor? (two records)
and Eleanor/Ellin Hughes, b. ca. 1781 Llansadwrn (1841), or b. 1783 Llansadwrn(1861)
d. after 1841
There is a matching family (with unmarried son Hugh) in Bangor in 1861?
I cannot find them in 1851
Possible marriage dates: 2 Nov. 1801 Llanfechell (where son Richard said he was born)
or 16 Nov. 1810 Llangeinwen
Hugh/Ellin and ch. Richard and Hugh (b. 1822) held the mill Felinwen, Llangeinwen, on1841
census.
Thank you in advance for any ideas!
Linda
