Hullo List
My research now brings me to this neck of the woods sorry this is so long winded.
Originally I thought that Griffith was Jane's father, however after looking at the
1901 Census it appears that they are siblings, born 25 years apart.
My knowledge is very limited, what I have is as follows
Griffith ROBERTS
1881 Census, Eleanor Street, Ferndale Glamorgan RG11 5294/85/13
Griffith ROBERTS head 33, b Holyhead Anglesey, Stone Mason
Elizabeth wife 37 b Carnarvon Llandwrog
Margt. Daur 10 b Carnarvon
Jane Daur 6 Merioneth
Elizabeth Daur 1 b Llanwonno Glamorgan
In 1891 the family was at Neath Road Llansamlet Glamorgan without Margt. And Jane, but
added
Ellen Daur 8 b Llansamlet Glamorgan
Ceridwen Daur 3 b Llansamlet Glamorgan
By 1901 they had moved again to 2 East Street, Tylorstown Glamorgan where Griffiths
occupation is Local Preacher/Stone Mason. The only child at home was Ceridwen.
On Census night in 1901 they had a nephew Llyfnwy JONES 2 b Ferndale Glamorgan, (who I
believe is Jane's son)
I also understand from family discussions of long long ago that Griffith used the name
"Llyfnwy" as a Bardic non-de plume and is where I was given Llyfnwy as a middle
name..
Jane ROBERTS
The only information that I have on my grandmother Jane ROBERTS is from the 1901 Census,
my mother's Birth Certificate and knowledge of the family.
Jane married Thomas JONES c 1895 (have been unable to find any date through the GRO Index)
and in 1901 lived at 19 Baptist Square Blaenllechau, Ferndale Glamorgan.
The Census 1901 details are
Thomas JONES 32 b Aberdare Glamorgan Greengrocer
Jane 27 b Festiniog, Merioneth.
William J 5 Son b Ferndale Glamorgan
Phillip 1mth Son b Ferndale Glamorgan
Ellen ROBERTS 18 Visitor b Llansamlet Glamorgan, (possible Griffith's daughter)
I hope that SKS recognises some of the above details and can help or point me in a
direction from here.
The IGI for this part of North Wales is light on for information.
Thankyou for taking the time to read this far
