Hi Keith
Many thanks for your response, but the family you mention is still at
Trewalchmai in the 1881, which also has this one :-
RG11/3684 folio 67
83 St John's Road, Kirkdale, Lancashire
Thomas HUGHES, head, M, 53, ship carpenter, AGY Holyhead
Sidney, wife, 48, AGY Amlwch
Ellen, daur, 12, AGY Holyhead
Hannah, daur, 8, AGY Holyhead
As you can see, there are two female Sidney/Sydney HUGHES' both born in
Amlwch at around the same time , but there's no doubt whatsoever that it's
the ship carpenter's wife who's my great-grandmother.
I've had a closer look at the Ancestry 1871 Wales site, and have noticed
that Holyhead is in fact in brackets (presumably signifying that it's
incomplete) and that they only have enumeration Districts 1 and 3.
I can only assume that Vulcan Street (where Hannah was born in 1873) is in
the "missing" District 2.
Best regards
Gordon
Hi Gordon,
I don`t know whether this lady might be the one you are looking for:
1871
Trewalchmai. Dwelling Newhaven No. 6.
Sydney HUGHES age 38 Head Marr. Born Amlwch.
Mary Do Dau age 11
Robert Do son age 8
Hugh Do son age 5
Ellen Do age 2
All children born Gwalchmai.
Let me know if it`s any good. I have saved the image, very faint, but
readable.
Re your query: I have certainly found lots of anomalies in the indexing
all to be put down to human error!
Cheers, Keith Roberts.
