I apologise if this has already been sent to the list but I haven't seen it appear
yet
Hi everyone I am new to this list living in West Yorkshire where we have just found my
greatgrandmother's family came from Heneglwys (this has taken months to arrive at as
she was living in Dewsbury and the 1881 census gave her place of birth as Kenegergary CMS.
Evidently she spoke only Welsh and the enumerator could not understand it.
I have found her father on the 1881 census living at Ty R Efail aged 61 and 1891 aged
72 at Gadlas Heneglwys (please could someone interpret these for me)
He was Owen Hughes born Llanrhyddiad, clock and watchmaker, widow in both 1881 and 1891.
He married Margaret Hughes somewhere around 1847 when my ggrandmother was born - also
named Margaret Hughes (christening date on IGI is 31/3/1847). Other children of Owen and
Margaret were Catherine and Owen.
Does anyone recognise this family and also could anyone with access to the 1871 and before
censuses please look them up for me. I realise this is asking a lot but I can't get
to Wales until summer at least.
