Hi Alun
My wife's great grandmother on Anglesey was Margaret Parry, but on her
marriage certificate gives her father's name as Henry Jones. She was born in
1831, so the patronymic naming system should be a thing of the past.
Unfortunately we have never managed to find her christening in Llanddeusant
parish registers, so we'll never know why this was so.
Cheers, Rob and Liz

Subject: [ANG] 1841 Rhoslyen ?
Still trying to locate a Jones family with a daughter Jane born 1847
in
Rhoslyn so would be 4 in 1851 census and 14 in 1861 census. Can anyone
explain to
me why on her marriage certificate to Morris Owen in 1873 it said
that her
father was a Robert Hughes. I would not think that she would have let
people know
that her parents were not married. If in a census would it state that
a
Robert
Hughes had a daughter Jane Jones, and who they was living
with.Thankyou
Alun.
