Although I don't think my ELIAS family are related to the Menai Bridge
query, I thought I would post what I know of them in case they are of
interest to others.
1833-? Thomas ELIAS b Llandegai - was a powder magazine store keeper at
Penrhyn Quarry.
1843-1918 Anne ELIAS (nee HUGHES), b Penmon. In 1851 Anne (aged 8) lived at
Brittania Bridge, Bangor.
Their children were all born at Bethesda:
1870 John ELIAS
1871- Elias Thomas ELIAS.
(He became a Captain in the Merchant Navy and was known as "Sea Lions" ELIAS
having started as a ship's boy in 1880 on the "Annesley" which sailed from
Liverpool. He then worked his way through the ranks becaming a Master in
1904. All his journeys were abroad. When he retired, he and his wife,
Elizabeth (1873), ran a cafe opposite the entrance to the Bethesda railway
station.)

In 1881 the family were living at Douglas Terrace, Llanllechid, Cae
