Hello Dick
The best way to find Eleanor's maiden name, would be to apply for a copy of
her son's birth certificate. You could write to the registrar at the
register office concerned, giving them the information on his parents and
his birth year etc. and see if they can find a birth entry for him.
Once you have Eleanor's maiden name, it will be easier to find the marriage
certificate.
Regards
Julie

Subject: [ANG] Eleanor (unknown) DAVIES
I am a new subscriber to your list.
Thanks to someone with a copy of the 1851 census of Llanelli, I have found
my maternal great, great grandparents. The census lists Thomas and Eleanor
(unknown) DAVIES with an 8-year old son, William.
It lists Eleanor as age 34, born Parish of Amlwch in Anglesey.
I'm wondering if possibly she was "home" to be married? Would anyone have
any lists of data that might indicate a marriage around 1842 of a Thomas
Davies and an Eleanor (unknown)? I hope this might lead to her maiden
name,
and then her parents names.
Thomas was from Parish of Dinas, county of Pembrokeshire.
FYI, my basic data on the son, William, who came to the United States is:
William Davies
b. 1842(3) in Llanelly(i), Wales
d. 5/14/1901 at sea off Charleston, SC.
burial, Oak Hill Cemetery, Brewer, ME
married Eunice Eldora Hamilton 11/26/1866
-----------------------in Phippsburg, ME.
Thanks in advance for any information or suggestions.
