1) I am Bill Roden and I live in South Florida, presently awaiting a
hurricane to come.
2) I don't really know if any of the family lived in Anglesey, but have
heard that they traveled there. Some of the family may have settled there. This
is what I have determined so far.
My GGG Grandfather Robert PARRY-EVANS was born at Rhos Fynach in Rhos-on-sea
in 1772 and died 1828, buried at Llandillo Yn Rhos Church. He had 8 children.
My GG Grandfather Robert was born between 1806 and 1811 in
Llanddoged/Llanddoget. While living at Rhos Fynach around 1844, he had an affair with
Mary
Hughes who was a young servant at Rhos Fynach. Robert and Mary were married in
1844 at Rhos Fynach, but left soon after in disgrace. Robert drops the Evans
part of the family name and goes by PARRY. In 1849 the family is in Bangor,
where my GG Grandmother, Sarah, was born. In 1851, Robert is a railway porter
in Bangor with a son Alfred (b. 1844) and daughters Agnes (b. 1846) and Sarah
(1849 - 1931). Other children later were Mary (b. 1851), Robert (b. 1854),
Evan Thomas (b. 1856), John Saunders (b. 1859), Samuel (b. 1861) and Elizabeth
(b. 1863). My GG Grandmother, Sarah, kept the PARRY name, but some of her
siblings reverted back to the PARRY-EVANS name. Sarah married a HUGHES and had one
or two children with him. He died prior to 1883 when she married my GG
Grandfather, William Roden in Mold. From the 1881 census there were two Sarah
Hughes that were born in Bangor and age 32. One is in Hawarden and she is a
widowed servant. The other is living in Llanllechid, Caernarvon and married to
Rowland Hughes, born 1844 in Llangeinwan, Anglesey with 2 children. I suspect
that my Sarah is the servant, as the children were said to be raised by their
Grandmother (not sure which one) and because of the distance between Hawarden
and Mold.
3. I would just like to know if anyone else is following members of this
family to compare notes.
Best regards,
Bill Roden
