G'day everyone,
As I told you previously ny g-grandfather was born C 1825 at Ceirchiog, Anglesey according
to the 1851 Census for Greenfield Holywell, where he was working at the time. When I was
in Wales last year I checked the records for Ceirchiog, but couldn't find him. I even
checked the surrounding Parishes. I have now discovered the following information. What I
need to know does it mean that he may have been born at any of them and it was still
classed as Ceirchiog?
"CEIRCHIOG, a parochial chapelry in the hundred of Llyfon, in the county of Anglesey,
North Wales, 4 miles N. of Aberffraw, and 3 from the Ty-Croes station on the Chester and
Holyhead railway. The living is a perpetual curacy annexed to the rectory of Llanbeulan,
in the diocese of Bangor, in the patronage of the bishop." [From The National
Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868) - Transcribed by Colin Hinson 2003]
"LLYFON HUNDRED, one of the subdivisions of county Anglesey, situated in the western
part of the county. It includes the parishes of Bodedern, Bodwrog, Ceirchiog, Llanbealan,
Llandrygarn, Llanfaelog, Llanllibio, Llantrisaint, Llanynghenedl, Llechcynfarwy,
Llechylched, Llanfair-yn-cubwll, Llanfihanglyn-Howyn, Trewalchmai, with some portion of
Holyhead."
