I know this will be a tough one, but I would be grateful for any information on a miller
called Richard Williams.
He married Anne Hughes at Holyhead on 14 November 1789. They were both said to be of
Holyhead.
On 13 June 1790 their son William was christened at Holyhead, and Richard was a miller at
this time
By 1795 they have moved to Ystradangoch, Trewalchmai, as he appears on the land tax
assessments for there, but appears to have moved by 1814.
While at Trewalchmai they had the following children christened at the parish church:
Hugh (20 March 1795)
John (30 April 1797)
Richard (19 March 1800)
Anne (21 June 1801)
Robert (13 July 1806)
And one son christened at the Methodist chapel:
Owen (born 31 July 1811, and christened 11 August). Richard's parish of birth is given
as Trewalchmai, while Anne's is given as Holyhead.
After 1814 I lose track of them so I would be grateful for any sightings in any records of
a miller called Richard Williams who has a wife called Anne.
I am descended from Owen, the son christened in 1811, and he has proved somewhat elusive.
My next "sighting" of him is 1 August 1834, when he married Eleanor Hughes at
Llechylched.
I have checked the censuses for 1841 for Llechylched and Llangwyfan for them without
success, but in 1849 and 1851 they were living atTyn y Towyn, Llangwyfan, with their
children Jane (1836) Richard (1842) Mary (1844) Owen (1846) and John (1849).
In 1874 their son John was a labourer living at Bodedern, when he married Catherine Parry
at Aberffraw. Owen was said to be a weaver, but there is no indication that he was
deceased, and I have not found him in the 1871 Bodedern census.
