Dear Iolo,
I have a copy of the will from 1726/7 for Griffith
Williams that names Coningsby Griffith as his reputed
son. It is fairly legible, so I could transcribe it
if you'd like to preview it before getting it yourself
from the National Library.
My husband has a line that goes through the Cefn y
Cwmmwd (spelled various ways in various records, today
Cefn Cwmwd) home in Llangristiolus. Mary Griffith is
his 6th-great-grandmother - she was born at Cefn y
Cwmmwd in the 1730s or 40s. I believe that her father
was a William Griffith, but there were a couple
William Griffiths in Llangristiolus at that time.
Plus patrynomics was used in this family. I obtained
the wills for all the men of that name who could
possibly be related to this family, so that is how I
ended up with the will of the Griffith Williams named
above.
