I am researching Hugh Rowland of St Padrig (Llanbadrig).
In the 1841 census he is living in Liverpool aged 34 occupation Joiner, with his wife
Elizabeth aged 36, and their four children Jane, Alice, William and Margaret - plus four
boarders
The couple were married at St Michael's in Liverpool on 1 Aug 1831 - Hugh Rowlands and
Elizabeth Owens: in the 1851 census it states she was born in Woolwich. There were also
two more children by 1851, Elizabeth and Ellen.
Of their children Jane was baptised at the Great Cross Hall Street Welch Particular
Baptist Church on 20 Jul 1834; Alice the next was baptised there on 3 Sep 1836.
In 1851 Hugh Roland was a boarder living in Ashford New Town, Kent - his place of birth is
given as St Padrig, Anglesea. He was a coach builder with the railway workshop there.
Elizabeth his wife was still in Liverpool but the entire family all moved to Ashford soon
after, where Jane the eldest daughter married Nathan Firth at the Willesborough Parish
Church in 1853.
Elizabeth (Owens) Rowland died in 1855 - Hugh married again, Mary Ann Boulton, in 1860 in
Pimlico, London, when he stated that his father was Hugh Rowland, Farmer.
As Hugh Rowland was my gt gt grandfather I am keen to trace his lineage.
It would appear from the above that Hugh was born c 1808 at St Padrig the son of Hugh
Rowland a farmer.
Noting the baptisms of his children, it seems unlikely that Hugh Rowlands Jnr was baptised
in the Parish Church though it may well be that his parents were married there.
I would be grateful for any information or suggestions
