Paul Betts message to the list today about a drowning in the Menai Straits
while in a "state of temporary insanity" has reminded me of a story in our
family. It is a very vague story of two sisters who both committed suicide
at different times as a result of walking into the sea at or near Aberffraw.
This would probably have been in the 19th or early 20th century. The family
name was Evans. I have not been able to find any information on this. Like
many such stories there may be a grain of truth in it.
Has anyone on the list heard of this?
David
With regard to the suicides mentioned I believe the wife of Fred Owen the superintendant
of the Open air Baths at Bangor comited suicide in the Menai straits while Fred was away
at sea during the war or just after does anyone know anything about this ?
Regards George
