Since asking the question I have seen another record which gives her place
of birth as Swansea. I believe that there is an Alltwen in Swansea.

There are several in Wales: means allt=hill. wen(gwyn) = white.

I see a record on the Ellis Island website of an Annie Jones age 36
arriving
in USA on the 'Majestic' in 1907. It gives her place of birth as
'Antwen'
Wales!
Has anyone any ideas?
