Hello Jeff, Sam and everyone,
I've been following this thread and wondered if you needed this info. I'm
Sam's cousin (Hi Sam!) through another daughter (Ellen Jones) of Robert
Jones and Catherine Owens. The following is from an email she sent me while
researching this family. There is another generation back to Amram Rowlands
but I'm not for certain that they all used the JONES surname. For now this
might answer your question.

Llangefni Archives; Aberffraw Parish Registers:
These were my first port of call, to try and find Robert Jones' baptism ca
1796 in Aberffraw.
Baptisms in Aberffraw- This baptism was the only Robert baptised in
Aberffraw in the relevant time frame:-
ROBERT son of JOHN, JOHN AMRAM by Anne his wife November 19th 1796. i.e.
Robert son of John son of John Amram. Robert has dropped the Amram and taken
Jones from John as his surname.
This is very interesting indeed, as the name Amram is very unusual, an
ancient Old Testament name for which I and the archivists at Llangefni had
not come across before.
In order to establish a family for Robert I searched the whole Aberffraw
parish register from 1789-1812.
Here's what I found:-
Elizabeth daughter of John John Amram by Anne his wife baptised May 19 1793.
Margaret daughter of John John Amram by Anne his wife bapt May 19 1793
Edward son of John John Amram by Anne his wife bapt April 4 1802.
The above would be Robert's siblings.
There is a burial in August 10th 1802 for John Amram of Dafarn
Dywarch,Aberffraw. No age given, but I believe it to be Robert's father.

Subject: [AGY] Family of Jones living in Aberffraw
Hello Gwyn and Sam
That is my William and Elizabeth on the 1871 census, a former
Tailor, according to his daughter's marriage cert. Ann Jones born 1833
married Robert Roberts in 1862 in Llangefni.
The John on the 1871 census as a son, is down on the 1861 census as a
nephew, William and Elizabeth would have been in there middle 50's when he
was born, so that sounds more plausible.
Sam have you found your Robert's parents yet?
The IGI have a William Jones marrying Elizabeth Thomas on the 29 Sep1829 in
Aberffraw, I will have to have a look at the film for marriage in Aberffraw.
The 1841 census has an Elizabeth Jones 70, living with William and
Elizabeth, may be William's mother. What is a Parish Constable? William go's
from being a Tailor to a Parish Constable living in one of the Poor Houses
in Aberffraw.
Jeff
