My marriage index is complete for the whole of Anglesey, any denomination,
civil, etc from July 1837 to 1937, I haven't done the civil marriages after
1937 but have done the churches. It was compulsory for a marriage to be
conducted by a registrar after July 1837, pretty well all vicars were
registrars for their own church, but chapel ministers were not until 1899,
when some ministers at some chapels were able to conduct and register
marriages in their own chapel. Other marriages were conducted in the
presence of a registrar, and these are in what I tend to call the civil
books, on Anglesey these are sub-districts Anglesey East and Anglesey West,
the index of these is complete to 1937. So as I said Richard & Selina did
not marry between July 1837 and 1937 on Anglesey. Before July 1837, there
was still a civil registration system in place, this was administered by the
church and even if you were non-conformist you had to marry in church or not
at all, Births also had to be registered in church. My index for these
church marriages 1813 to 1837 is not finished yet, I have gone through them
all and recorded them but there are some mistakes in the ones that I haven't
checked yet. However, I have checked Holyhead, St. Cybi's for this period.
My own thought is that her name was not Selina at all, the census
enumerators were certainly not infallible. Hope this is of some help, Dave

Several listers kindly checked for marriage of Selena X but as this is
second failure to find a marriage may I ask if
available sources include data outside the parish church eg Quaker,
Catholic, Non-conformist ?
I am checking the 4 Selena marriages outside Anglesey
