Maes Llydan is in that awkward part of the village of Benllech which is in
the parish of Llanddyfnan, it is about 200 yards from the parish boundary of
Llanfair ME to the north and Llanbedr-goch to the south and the village has
a little bit in each parish, the majority being in Llanfair ME. The church
is about half a mile from the chapel on the same narrow road. Hope that
helps in some way. If you would like to send me an image of the picture, off
list, I will check it against the chapel and chapel house for you next time
I am in that area. Dave

Hello Brenda
As you are referring to the chapel not the parish church and I couldn't find
a photo of the Tabernacl CM chapel on the internet I thought that I would
draw your attention to the fact that the Gwynedd FHS have recorded the MI's
of Tabernacl chapel and it is highly possible that they have a photo of the
chapel included. Although the parish is Llanfair Mathafarn Eithaf the chapel
lies just outside the village of Benllech, an area known as Tynygongl. It is
a typical chapel and in use today. The church of Llanfair ME is the one that
is photographed and included on the site that Tassie referred to. Hope this
helps
Regards
Angharad

Subject: [AGY] LOOKING FOR A CHURCH
Hello everyone,
Can anyone help in finding the Tabernacle Calvanistic Methodist church in
Llanfairmathafarneithaf? Is it still there? A cousin of my late husband
was married there in 1924 & I'm hoping to find a photo of the church. I
have a wedding photo of the couple but I don't think it was taken outside
of the church. It has sash windows with curtains & looks like the outside
of a house - although I could be wrong!! The bride's home was called
"MAESLLYDAN" & was in Llanddyfnan & is possibly the location of the
wedding photo. Her name was Gracie Ellen OWEN & the groom was John (aka
Jack) PARRY of Llanallgo.
Also - is there a photo of MAESLLYDAN in existence? This house was
demolished after WW2 & houses were built in the area - probably on part of
the land.
I would be grateful for any help offered.
Regards,
Brenda.
