Hi
I was intrigued by your quest simply because my ancestor John Roberts was as
far as I have discovered married in Llanidan to a Jane Williams in 1807. He
was a blacksmith in neighbouring Llangeinwen and his son my great great
grandfather Wm Roberts was born there in 1814 (he became a blacksmith in
Llanidan)- followed by the birth of two sisters. As John Roberts had a
granddaughter (Hughes not Roberts) living with them in all censuses there
must have been at least one other sibling or she was illegitimate. It struck
me that 7 years is quite a gap between the marriage and the birth of my
William. I know there was another blacksmith at the same address in
Llangeinwen in 1811 and there is a missing year 1812 in the Llangeinwen
parish register but were they there prior to those dates or perhaps still in
Llanidan where they married. I have no recollection that I have looked for
any baptisms in Llangeinwen for that period as I had already discovered the
family in Llangeinwen prior to searching for the marriage. My great
grandfather was also a John Roberts
Did your John Roberts have a daughter by the name of Jane?
Regards
Angharad

Subject: [AGY] Roberts - Llanidan
Hi Everybody,
I am trying to find out about a family by the name of Roberts ( I know
there are many of us) who lived in Llanidan - my 3 x gt granddad John
Roberts - Born 1811c) came from this area but by 1841 he was living in
Liverpool with his first wife Margaret (born 1801c) who could have come
from same area as she did not come from Liverpool, they had their first
child John aged three also John living with them. They were living at
Dillon Place in Liverpool in 1841. All the records I am able to access are
after 1837.
regards Pauline Jones nee Roberts
