Bob: It is interesting that any sort of "service", especially gardening, seems
to have been, in part, "heritable", so anyone with connections to a later
servant should look at that estate (only really works for unusual names/surnames).
Syd: I think you have to assume that any name that is present within a family for 6
generations is there for a reason! Maybe there's a connection to an earlier Grey? My
family use the name "Josiah" (I was very nearly called Joe myself) which is
present in 6 generations as well. I wonder whether all Josiahs in Lleyn might be related
to us!
Yours,
Ian Thompson

Sorry about the duplication of my note. The first one came back to me, so I
resent it.

You will appreciate that John Jones is a very common name in Wales,
however, if you have any further details to help me I will try to help you with
local searches. Dave Crawford

I have followed this thread with interest. I have "Gray" as a middle name
for at least 6 generations in my family and know one seems to know why. We
just keep using it. My family has many connections to Pentreath and Red
Wharf Bay so I live in hope.
