I sent the following reply, but it didn't seem to reach the list.
There is no gravestone for John in Llanfair Mathafarn Eithaf church-yard,
there is a large cemetery with Tabernacle chapel which isn't far from the
church, but I don't have access to that index.
There is a John HUGHES birth registered in Llanidan.
HUGHES, John, father Robert, labourer, mother Ann HUGHES born 30-Oct 1845 at
Bryn Gwyn, Llanidan
reference Llanidan birth book 2 page 61 entry 301
And the following marriage
Llanidan PR book 1, page 14 entry 28, 1839 25-Dec, HUGHES Robert, full
age batchelor, labourer of Glan y Llyn, Llangeinwen father Hugh ROBERTS,
Labourer married HUGHES Ann, full age, spinster of Bodywyr Isaf, father
John HUGHES, Labourer
The 2 marriages of John HUGHES & Jane Prichard in 1874 were in Amlwch. So
they did not marry on Anglesey.
I don't know how this will help, hope it does, best wishes Dave

I am researching my great grandparents and would welcome any help .
JOHN HUGHES (b 1846) ,Llanidan and JANE PRICHARD (b.1855), Church House ,
Port Dinorwic. I believe they married in 1874 in Chicago. I think JOHNs
parents might have been ROBERT HUGHES ( b1813 Llangeinwen ) and ANN (b 1817
Llanidan), but have not confirmed this.
They had three children - William?Griffith (b.1875), Pearce M (b.1880) , and
Jane Ellen ( b. 1882) . Between 1880 and c 1910 they appear to have lived in
Liverpool. They returned to Anglesey and were owner /occupiers of Pant y
Saer Uchaf between c.1910 -1920. I cannot find them on the 1911 census
however.
Their daughter JANE ELLEN HOWDLE (nee HUGHES) was a stewardess on the
Lusitania and died when it was torpedoed in 1915. Her name appears on the
Bangor and Benllech memorials - does anyone have photos of these? ? I think
her parents must have raised her three children? - Raymond , Ronnie and
Benjamin Donald.?
JOHN died in 1924 and is buried in Tynygongl and JANE died in 1936 and is
buried in Llanrug so its possible there might memorial inscriptions.

Hi Guys
Help needed please. Still chasing my Welsh heritage, and have now found my
Anglesea forefather John Roberts married a girl from Aberporth after his
first wife died in Liverpool. I have a sketchy idea of the family in
Aberporth and I a wondering if any one knows of a chat page for the area of
Cardiganshire where I might be able to a bit more info about church records
etc.
Kind regards Pauline Jones

We were there only a week ago, and visited the church which is unfortunately
closed for repairs. A pretty church in a very pretty village. You could try
the Dyfed rootsweb list send a message with only the word subscribe in the
body of the email to DYFED-L-request(a)rootsweb.com. You could also visit
Cardiganshire family history society web site
www.cgnfhs.org.uk/
They are very helpful and have some very skilled researchers if you join
them, of course I am biased as Delyth is the editor of their journal. Hope
this helps, best wishes, Dave
