Hello, I wonder if you can help me in any way?
Shot in the dark here.
I am trying to trace the ancestors of my great-grandmother EMMA ELIZABETH
CARTWRIGHT who married who married ARTHUR WAKELAM in 1903 (Birmingham St.
Philips).
On the LDS site I found an EMMA E CARTWRIGHT with the parents EZEKIEL (could
also be EZEKIAL) and ELIZA CARTWRIGHT. The year of birth corresponds to her
age at mariage and the parents marriage (1878 in West Bromwich) also would
correspond. There is also a possible year of birth for Ezekiel of 1857 in
West Bromwich.
The Banns for Emma and Arthur's wedding, it is believed, show an incorrect
entry for her father (Arthur's father's details could have been duplicated
here).
This is the whole problem, the uncertainty of her father's correct name.
Added to this, is the belief that Emma had a Welsh accent and my grandad
always told me that his father met her whilst on holiday in North Wales.
Could her family therefore have been from Wales or the Cheshire borders etc?
or was she merely working there?
Any help would be welcomed and appreciated.
