Hello Listers,
I am new on this list and have had terrible trouble tracing my
great-grandmother, but now there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel.
I have no access to records, files etc out of my county (Devon ex-Brummie!)
and rely on the internet and kind-hearted individuals! I am now seeking a
little clarification and more information of anyone who would be kind enough
to supply it.
The following is the information I have on my great-grandmother.....
EMMA ELIZABETH CARTWRIGHT
Died/buried 7th May 1931
Great-grandfather met her in Wales on holiday - she was WELSH.
Marriage Cert -
Age at marriage - 24
Parents did not attend wedding.
Father's name on cert GEORGE (debatable - same as Emma's new father in law)
Father's residence - 85 Newhall St, Birmingham (again debatable, same as new
father in law)
Occupation - Pottery Art Moulder
Witnesses - these were Wakelams.
I was kindly sent two separate pieces of information today that could start
to narrow things down a little.
Birth 1879 March Quarter. Emma Elizabeth Cartwright. Reg District
Holywell, index 11b/273.
1881 Census - Holyhead and Holywell are two different places, in two
different counties of Wales ... but both use 11b as the index volume. Fathers
name obviously does not quite match.
Dwelling: Mill Bank Terrace
Census Place: Holyhead, Anglesey, Wales

Does anybody know anything of the family mentioned above in the 1881 Census?
Can anyone shed any light on my great-grandmother?
Many thanks.
