Hello to all listers
New to this list though not to FH or indeed to rootsweb.
"Visiting" here from my more usual haunts in WRY, CUL and DUR because
of a MI sent to me by a contact. Said tombstone is apparently in the
churchyard of St Marys in Llanfair P.G. (or possibly a nearby
graveyard?) and was erected by voluntary subscription of the workers
involved in the construction of the Britannia Bridge in memory of my
great-great-great-great-grand-uncle, Isaac GARFORTH, brick maker, who
died 18 March 1850 aged 62.
I'm wondering if anyone here:
1. Can confirm the exact location of the stone?
2. Knows anything about the building of the bridge and/or Isaac's
death? I don't THINK it was the result of an accident but without
getting his d c am not sure.
3. Knows whether Isaac had wife or any children with him in the area?
Maybe they were still there a year later come the 1851 census?
Garforth is a rare enough name even in Yorkshire so it would
presumably stand out somewhat in North Wales.
TIA for any help,
