Quite a few people have joined the Gwynedd lists over the past few weeks. For
their benefit I thought it might be appropriate to post the URLs for some of
the most useful sites for family history research relevant to the locality.
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/
Is an attempt to transcribe the whole of the index to birth, marriage and
death certificates issued in England & wales between 1837 and 1901. It is not
complete, but it does contain 30 million records, so is well worth a try

Is the address for the All Wales Lookup Exchange, where family historians
volunteer to do lookups from sources which they own. This page deals with
lookups relevant to the whole of Wales
http://freespace.virgin.net/the.mill/merlkup.htm
Is the Merionethshire Lookup Exchange (same as above, but dealing with
lookups specific to Merionethshire)
http://freespace.virgin.net/isabel.easter/Caern.htm
Is the Caernarfonshire Lookup Exchange
and

Is the Anglesey Lookup Exchange
If you require more than one or two lookups it would be worth considering
purchasing some of the excellent and reasonably priced Family History tools
published by Gwynedd Family History Society. Details of what is available can
be found on Gwynedd FHS site at
http://www.gwynedd.fsbusiness.co.uk/
Gwynedd (and other society's) publications are also available, by credit card
from GENFair
http://www.gwynedd.fsbusiness.co.uk/
But be warned, GENFair charges 17.5% VAT on sales, Gwynedd FHS does not!
The GENUKI pages for Gwynedd are
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/CAE/ (Caernarfonshire)
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/AGY/ (Anglesey)
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/MER/ (Merionethshire)
There is not a lot on the GENUKI pages at the moment, but moves are afoot to
change that!

Is the URL for Gareth's help page, a mine of information about Welsh
Genealogy, which should be visited by every Welsh Family Historian
http://www.llgc.org.uk/
Is the URL for the National Library for Wales. Another site which is packed
with information, one of the most useful parts of the site is the ISYS
database which has an index of all the Welsh Marriage Licences which have
survived.
My last suggestion is a fairly new, but extremely popular site

This site enables you to search for surnames on the IGI on a parish by parish
basis, in a way which is much simpler than that which is offered on the IGIs
own site at
