Frances,
Have you check all of the Amlwch census that are available on the Pary site
and Genuki?
I'll have a look at my Pigot's Directory for the business.

Dear Betty,
I found your email address on the "Online Welsh Names Research Directory"
as being interested in the Williams family from Amlwch and Liverpool.
My great great grandfather was David Williams whom I'm having a hard time
tracking down. I know that he was a Mariner who married Catherine Owens
in Chester in 1848. Family stories say that he was one of three brothers
who had the Williams Shipping Company of Amlwch, Port Wales and Liverpool
but I can't substantiate that. His marriage certificate says that his
father was Owen Williams, a Mariner.
I know he had two daughters Mary Ellen and Catherine, and other family
members say that he had a son William - all probably born in Chester.
Living in Amlwch was Mamie Williams born around 1900 and supposedly the
daughter of the above William Williams. She was a spinster school teacher
who taught Gaelic and lived in a house called Bodhyfryd, in Amlwch across
the bay from the port. I have a cousin who visited there in the 1960's
and says that there were Druid stones in her backyard, the property going
right down to the sea. I have copies of letters she wrote, the last one
being in 1977 when she was ill.
Mamie had as sister Elizabeth Ann (Bessie) who was born about 1902 in
Amlwch and died in Jan. 1994. She married a Richard R. Williams and they
had a son Richard C. Williams born about 1935 and living now in Reading,
England. He has not answered any of my letters. Bessie lived in a house
called Coetmor, near Ruthin in North Wales.
David Williams died at sea, leaving his widow Catherine with her
daughters and son. In 1881, she and her two daughters and one grandchild
were living in Liverpool - Toxteth Park without David ( he must have
died by then). I have not found David's birth date or place of birth but
I'm sure it must be somewhere in North Wales, if not on Anglesey.
My grandmother used to talk about an Ishmael as well.
Does any of this fit in with what you are researching?
Regards,
Frances Irwin
