Hi Marlis
As you say - spooky!
My great-grandma Sidney JONES (I've actually got TWO female ancestors called Sid!) was
born in Amlwch in Dec 1833 to parents William JONES and Margaret HUGHES, both b1814.
I found Sid at Turkey Shore in the superb on-line Amlwch 1841 census :-
http://www.amlwchdata.co.uk/select.htm
along with her brother Evan and sister Ellen and (by an incredible stroke of luck) their
grandparents John JONES b1784 and Elizabeth JONES b1791.
Also on Turkey Shore is also an Elizabeth JONES b1821, who is probably my
great-grandma's auntie - sister to her father William.
It has just occured to me, though, that your Elizabeth b1825(?) would have been a JONES by
marriage, so you would need to know her maiden name (which could well have been JONES
since there were literally hundreds of them in Amlwch!).
She certainly seems to be there on the 1851 census - Elizabeth JONES b1825 Amlwch,
copper-dresser - along with daughter Elizabeth JONES b1849 Amlwch.
There could well be a link at the end of the day, but we're probably going to need
your b1825's maiden name to prove it.
Keep us both out of mischief for a while, though, won't it?
Regards
Gordon Evans

Hi Gordon
This is spooky !!
All we have on our Elizabeth JONES is that in 1881 ( census ) Tim's grt. grt
grandfather William George MATHEWS ( Master Mariner ) was living in Kirkdale with his wife
Elizabeth - aged 32 ( b. 1849 ?), their three children AND his Mother-in-Law ! And she
was Elizabeth JONES - aged 56 ( b. 1825 ?) and widowed, with her place of birth as Amlwch
!! The suspense is getting to me so please let me know if there is a link. These are all
the facts we have, and I've only just this week managed to find Williams death ( and
have now got a certificate , with help from Cheshire BMD ) but haven't as yet found
any of the others ( apart from Tim's grandfather Herbert George MATHEWS - the youngest
of the children.
Regards, and fingers crossed
Marlis ( in dull and chilly Wallasey )
