Hello Everybody,
I have just subscribed to this list so I would like to start by listing my interests;
1) The WILLIAMS family: John Williams was born in 1846 at Cerig Ceinwen and later moved to Heneglwys, birthplace of his wife, Mary (surname not yet discovered) where a daughter Hannah ws born in 1868. The family were later recorded in Llanllechid, Caernarvonshire.
2) Griffith JONES, son of Mary JONES (believed to be unmarried) born 1864 OR 1867. Griffith married Hannah Williams in 1890.
According to Family sources, Griffith Jones was fostered out to a family living at Minffordd, Bangor but I dont know their name. Does any lister have access to the 1871 census to do a lookup. I would be happy to trade for lookups in North Kent.
Peter Lee
Faversham, Kent.
Researching Williams and Jones in Wales and Lee, Clay, Guite and Senior in the Sheffield area.
I don't know if they made an error or what, but I just went to
www.ancestry.com and clicked on search records at the top of the page.
It took me to a place where I could click on ancestry map room. When I
got there, I had a whole menu of maps to choose from. I tried two and
they came up free.
I am not a member of ancestry.com and I don't know why that web site let
me browse through their map collection. Maybe it will only be good for a
while or maybe I just got lucky. I could have chosen historical maps
from all over the world.
It is too good to miss.

Hello,
I have quite a bit of information about the Elias family of Nantannog,
Ceidio, Anglesey. Hugh was a recurring name in the family. Many of them
emigrated to America during the 1840-1850's.
I'm not sure whether they connect with your Elias family but would be more
than willing to give you details of them if you wish.
Llandrygarn parish is about 2 to 3 miles from Ceidio, so there could be a
connection.

Hello All.
Following a very recent horrendous computer crash and poor e-mail backup i
have lost much of what has been sent to me recently.
I am back up and running and have found much of the info on a wonderful site
dedicated to Amlwch and surrounding area but just in case i'm still missing
some info coild any one who might have sent me info not available on this site
please contact me again.
I think that i have also been able to find Tyn y mynydd ,its round the side
of Parrys Mountain on the Penysarn side. Can any one confirm this ?
Hopefully this year i might get up there and see for myself!
I have ,hopefully , found the family beginning with Thomas Roberts b 1776 in
the 1841 census with his family all the way through to a William Roberts,
farmer,1 Bodednyfed bach.
William being a member of my Roberts family is a matter of conjecture at the
moment but the info does seem to match him to mine.
My own ,wifes actually, line comes from Williams father Samuel .
Does any one have knowledge of Williams family or the address?
There are other female members of the family that i have yet to make further
coonections with.
I have also seen reference to a Roberts-Wales surname list and did have some
contact with some other Roberts but this was amongst the info lost as a result
of the computer crash. Anybody any knowledge of this list.
Thanks to all those who have helped in the past.

I am looking for a connection to Hugh Elias. He was on the PentriFelin farm
at Llandrygarn for sure around 1913 and I don't know how much longer. He
was buried at the Parish church in Llandygarn in 1955. He was buried in the
same grave site as Henry Roberts who had originally owned Pentre Felin.
Henry Roberts would have been my great uncle.
Hope for some help. Marv Roberts
Can anyone tell me where I can get hold of a list of the County Scholars, i.e. pupils who sat their 11+ exam and were awarded the county scholarship for performance?
I'm looking at dates between 1920 and 1925 ish.
Thanks

I believe this is the family of my JOHN WILLIAMS, b. 1822 Llanddulas--d.
1879 lost at sea; he became a Master Mariner and in 1851 was living with
wife Mary (Jones of Llanfyllin) and sister Elizabeth in Liverpool. His
ships were owned by James Fisher of Barrow in Furness, England. He later
moved his family to Amlwch, Anglesey, after the death of his first wife,
Mary Jones; his second wife was a Mary Griffith of Amlwch. His children
were named Mary Jane, James, John G., William, and Thomas R.Williams.
Does anyone connect?
1841 Census, Tai'n y Llan, Llanddulas:
Mary Williams, 45
Jane Williams, 15, miliner's (sic) ass (i.e. assistant)
Mary Williams, 13
Elizabeth Williams, 6
William Williams, 3
(All born in county)
[father John Williams is believed to have been a mariner at sea]
The baptisms of the other children in this family read as follows:
May 22nd 1825: Jane, daughter of John and Mary Williams of Tyn (sic) y
Wal,Labourer [he might have later gone to sea]
June 8th 1830: Mary, daughter of John and Mary Williams, Llan (i.e.
Llanddulas), Labourer
1851 Census Llanddulas, Tai'n y Wall
John Williams, Head, Mar, 55, Grocer, born Abergele
Mary Williams, Wife, 54, born Abergele
Mary Williams, Daur, U, 22, Grocer's Assistant, born Abergele
Williams Williams, Son, U, 13, Scholar, born Abergele
The ages all tie up to the birthplace of their son (John Williams master
mariner, b. 1822 Llanddulas) )and I wonder whether Abergele is given as
the birthplace because Llanddulas is near Abergele, but it seems a bit
odd.
1861 Census records for Llanddulas missing
1871 Census Llanddulas, Moranedd
John Williams, Head, Mar, 75, Retired grocer, born Abergele
Mary Williams, Wife, Mar, 63 (a mistake?) born Denbighshire, St George's
(It seems from the census that St George's is the next parish so maybe
that is where they were married.)
I can't find them in 1881 so they may be dead by then.
