I am still trying to find where Rhosfawr is in Anglesey. I have searched the
1881 census by locality and have found 11 entries with Rhosfawr or Rhosfaur,
Anglesey, Wales listed as a person's birthplace so it must be a village or
parish. I have checked maps and the only one I can find in North Wales is
in Carnarvonshire several miles north of Pwllheli.
Maybe Rhosfawr, Anglesey goes by a different name now or is too small to be
on maps. Does anyone have any clues which might help?
Thanks for your help.

I would like an expert opinion on the following please!
Hugh Williams, married Margaret Williams. In both 1851 & 1861 their eldest son was given as William Hughes, age 10 (1851) & 20 (1861). Their next child was Thomas, 6 years younger. Margaret's place of birth is given as Trefdraeth, but in 1881 given as Llangristiolus.
In 1841, in Llangristiolus, were the following:
Mary Williams, 50, pauper
Margaret Williams, 20,
Robert Williams, 7
Benjamin Williams, 5
Hugh Williams , 2months
Elinor Jones, 6, Bastard.
Do you think this Margaret Williams could be the one who married Hugh Hughes & Hugh Williams, 2 months, became William Hughes?
Thank you
Margaret

Hello Joyce
I think you may find that this Rhos Fawr is near Four Crosses about 3
miles from Pwllheli. In fact only a couple of miles from your family in
Syntur. Could it be that it is not in Anglesey? - or perhaps there is a
Rhos Fawr in Anglesey that I have not heard of.

I am new to the list and thought I would list my interests.
My Owen family lived in Llanerchymedd and were mostly shoemakers. A few years
ago I did consult the parish registers but now need to go further back. If
anybody has any details on Owens in Llanerchymedd I would be grateful if they
could share it with me.
ROBERT OWEN b c 1837-9 (his age & place of birth vary on census returns). I
believe his father was probably ROBERT TURNER a clock maker from Liverpool &
his mother ELIZABETH OWEN bc 1815. On the 1851 census he gives Liverpool as
his place of birth but Llanerchymedd on the later ones.
He married ELIZABETH THOMAS in 1859 & they had the following children
ELIZABETHb1860
ANNb1863
ROBERT b1866
WILLIAM b1868
GORONWY b1870
MARY CATHERINE b1871
I am particularly interested in details of his parents/ Grandparents.
I am also interested in another Owen(s) family
OWEN OWENs bc 1826 m ELIZABETH from LLANFACHRAETH
They had a son JAMES OWEN bc1854 who married MARGARET OWENS in 1881
Their children were
JOHN JAMES OWEN
WILLIAM EDWARD OWEN
OWEN OWEN
JANE ELIZABETH OWEN
RICHARD OWEN

Does anyone know the location of Rhos faur (also spelled Rhos fawr) in or
near the parish of Llanidan? I have found several families living at this
place in the mid 1800s so assume it is a tiny village but I suppose it could
be a street with several families living on it or maybe it is a farm name. I
can't find it on the Anglesey OS map. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I am doing a project on the History of the School and past Masters and Pupils
of this School .I would welcome any information.
Are there any old Pupils who have memories of the time they spent at the
School or who had an Ancestor who attended the School?
Does anyone know anyting about the House Masters
John Williams,Hugh Rowlands,Richard Llywd?
Any old Photographs ?

Hi Pat, Yvonne & list
Thanks for the responses.
I sent the original mail about Alan Carr's site. I have ordered a photo
from him, which is now at my mother's. He hand delivered it, she lives in
Lancashire. I ordered the photo of Capel Mawr, Talysarn, as we lived there
in the late 40's. Mum says it is beautiful & is worried about shipping it to
the state so I have to visit!
I forgot to mention that I had also checked Bethesda. I'm just looking for
an easier way out! I have the family on every census from 1851, so would
like to fill this missing hole.
Williams' parents are as follows in 1891:
Page 11, # 97
Pen y Gamfa (?)
Hugh Williams, H, M, 43, Joiner, born Bodwrog
Ann, W, M, matmaker, Newborough
Ellen, D, S. Matmaker, Newborough
Ann Eliza, D, S, 8, In school, Newborough
Margaret Hughes, Grand daur.
Ann Williams, Sister-in-law, Bodwrog
The ages were very difficult to make out as all had been crossed through. I
would really like to know the age of the grand daughter. William later
married Margaret Hughes around 1900, I know they had a least one child,
Robert, before they were married. Ann Williams Is Hugh's half sister.
The reason I looked in Llandegai for William in 1891 is that Margaret Hughes
was born there, as were her fathers family. Although by 1891 they were
living in Trefdraeth, where her mother came from.
This is getting complicated, so I will leave it there for now. Any
help/suggestions will be much appreciated.

Having spent several frustrating hours searching the 1891 fiche for Newborough, Anglesey, Llandegai & Llanllechid, Caer, for my grandfather' does anyone know if there is an index available? Taid's name is William Williams, born Newborough 1873. He was not at home in Newborough with his parents. I know at some stage in his life he worked in the slate quarries.
I live in California & have to order the fiche in to the FHL, so any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Margaret
